Dr. Tauro has been appointed to the Board of Directors for AANA, the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
He has been affiliated with AANA since 1991 and as Master Instructor of Arthroscopic Surgery since 1995. For the last three years, Dr. Tauro has served as the Chairman of the Orthopedic Learning Center for AANA which is a state of the art facility for learning and refining hands on skills for surgeons in the United States and increasingly as a center for international learning. As Learning Center Chair, Dr. Tauro is actively involved in the coordination of all teaching at the center and has traveled throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia as a Master Instructor for AANA.
During this recent period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Tauro, along with the entire AANA team have spearheaded the development of “hybrid” models of learning with much of the teaching done on line but with safe efficient hands on lab experience as well
Most recently, Dr. Tauro has been the coordinator for development of Virtual Reality Surgical skills training which includes both hardware and software which can simulate hands on surgical conditions, provide teaching, feedback and performance assessment similar to what is used to train pilots.
