Trainer’s Corner

I am excited to announce the launch of Ocean County Sports Medicine’s new monthly blog series, Trainer’s Corner, starting this April.

The athletic trainers at our local high schools, colleges and sports leagues are a tremendous asset for preventing and treating sports related injuries. Athletic trainers work with athletes to help them condition and prepare to play at a high level without injury.

Unfortunately, injuries still occur and trainers can treat the smaller ones and act as a critical interface with the sports medicine doctor who becomes involved when the injury is more serious. Trainers know the sport, they are in daily contact with the athlete and often witness the injury. They are often the first person to evaluate and treat them if an injury occurs.

It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with many of our dedicated and talented local trainers over the years since Ocean County Sports Medicine was established in 1988. Our local athletic trainers are an excellent source of useful information and we have invited them to share their knowledge with you. Look for the the first Trainer’s Corner installment in the next two weeks!
